Use of the generalized spherical harmonic model for describing crystallographic texture in polycrystalline NiTi shape-memory alloy with time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction data

We present a feasibility study to extract quantitative texture and precise crystal structure information of poly-crystalline monoclinic NiTi shape-memory alloys from a simultaneous refinement of 52 time-of-flight neutron-diffraction patterns taken in 13 orientations in the diffractometer. The multiple-data-set capabilities and the generalized spherical harmonic texture model of the GSAS program system were employed.
